Let us know how this one goes. If it fails in both slots we'll have to try slots three and four, it'll be impossible to make the call on whether it's the RAM or the DIMM slots. Let us know the results of both tests before we go any further.

Will do. But i have a feeling it was faulty ram stick. But since we got this far ill try it in dimm slot 2 to be 110% sure.

It's best to. While you're running that test dig out the warranty on the RAM (the whole kit) to get an RMA on it.

I called the guy regarding warranty and told me i was only covered for 1 year. Only if i had purchased it directly from the manufacturer themselves i would be entitled for full cover. So ill just go purchase another mushkin ram stick or would you recommend something more compatible for my motherboard?

Get in touch with Mushkin themselves first, see what they say. You might get lucky.

Here's the QVL for RAM manufacturers for your motherboard. Link. Personally I'd look at the Kingston RAM on the list, I always recommend them. Ultimately it's your choice though, Corsair are usually excellent as well.

Too much of a hassle to trying to get it replaced.

I trust your judgment regarding the ram. I can spend upto $200, so which ever one you point out to me ill buy them with my eyes shut. Im only a petty graphic designer so i wouldn't have a clue to decide which one to purchase. Rather than having a random telling me which is best, id rather heed the words of this forum who spent their time assisting me with my ram ordeal.

I've been looking into your motherboard specs and it states it will only take 1600MHz RAM with a supported CPU although I can't verify whether your CPU will allow for 1600MHz RAM. Presuming it is OK (you can always downclock the RAM to 1333MHz in the Advanced BIOS settings) I'd find some of the Kingston HyperX KHX12800D3K2/4G which is listed as supported on the ASRock website. I use Kingston HyperX myself and have never had an issue with it. It's only a 4GB kit but seeing as you have four slots you could double up depending on the price.

Good Morning from Melbourne.

After 12 hours and 10 passes, no error regarding the 2nd RAM stick which I tested in both DIMM slots.

The first RAM stick Came up with error messages which I tested in both DIMM slots. 1st DIMM slots showed 23 errors after 7 passes, and the 2nd DIMM slot after 3 hours and 4 passes one error.

with one stick now in total 4GB my PC does seem slow lol...

And regards to the old memory RAM sticks? Tuck them away?

In regards to the kingston RAMS which you have recommended, would it be ok to go with 2 RAM sticks rather than using up the 4 DIMM slots?!

Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX316C10FBK2/8)

I found these one here, great deal!

8GB (4GBx2) Kit Kingston Hyper X DDR3-1600 CL10 240-Pin DIMM Black | Centre Com : Best PC Hardware Prices!

16GB (8GBx2) Kit Kingston Hyper X DDR3-1600 CL10 240-Pin DIMM Black | Centre Com : Best PC Hardware Prices!

Im even considering 16BG RAM sticks. I Believe Ill be set for another good 6 years, so even if I wish to upgrade my system I can transfer them to my new built pc.

If approved Ill go get them ASPAP.

Running Windows 7 with 4GB RAM. Just got 2 extra 4GB DIMMS but HP manual says that speed is 1333 MHz if no more than 2 of the 4 slots used but drops to 1066 MHz if with more than 2. Do I go for 8GB at 1333 MHz or 12GB at 1066 MHz? Gut feel is for 12GB but I'm not sure what effect speed drop...
