Win7 Vista & Printer Sharing

I have a Canon multifunction printer, MF6500, connected to a Windows 7 computer. The printer is shared in Windows 7 and installed on the Vista machine. It prints fine, but I am unable to use the scanning feature.

I would like to install on the Vista machine as recommened by Canon and also by Jimbo45 7 and vista and a printer but I am denied access to the printer path of the shared Canon device. When I enter the port name I get "access is denied". The printer is shared and I added 'everyone' in the security tab will full control. But, still access is denied in the port name.

I need the scanning capability more than the printing.

Looks like Windows 7 is again somehow blocking access through the network. I just need to find where. Any ideas?
