Are you using Prime 95 version 28.5 or higher?
yes it is 28.5 doing small FFT's (maximum heat, FPU stress, datta fits in L2 cache) Test

Is that cooler an H92?? I can't find details on it.
Yes it is the Coolermaster Hyper D92 Heatsink Review - FrostyTech.com

Check you vcore with cpu-z and bios.

Download CPU-Z - MajorGeeks

1.74volts is scary.

Did you set your vcore manually? If so what did you set it at?
I always set the voltage manually and verify it stays there.

I would NOT use OCCT. Your system will not live with voltages possibly be driven that high.
If it was my computer I would set the vcore manually to 1.25v and test again with Prime95 while monitoring the temps. Every system is different. You have to balance out the over clock with voltages and temps. A couple of tenths of voltage increase can raise temps very high. My system runs quite well with 1.3 volts @ 4.6 but I have a lot of cooling.

I use Real Temp to monitor my temps because it's always close to temps in bios.

3.70 works well for me.

You have this thread marked as Solved. You might want to open it back up so others will chime in with help. (Unsolved)

I tested again at 1.25 manually setting voltage. getting 4.3 GHz and high temp of 83 on prime95

At that temp and volts I would improve the cooling or lower the over clock.

If I had to work on your system I would try a better cpu cooler when I could and until I could I would not run a over clock. I and others have good luck with a AIO water cooling like Corsair. I use a Corsair H-80 with Noctua fans on another system over clocked (@4.2/1.28 vcore and never see temps that high using Prime95.
It's a i7-960 which are little toasters.

They are not a lot of money like a full blown water cooling but do a very good job for the dollars spent. Your D92 I have never heard of or do I remember anybody else using one.
Noctua 14 or 15 are high quality air coolers and have been top of the line for air cooling for years.

A good rule is don't over clock anything you can't afford to replace.

Not currently looking for a fix just a question.
