ATX 12V 8PIN Alternative
Hi! I'm helping a friend build a new system, and he has bought the parts already, it just needs assembling. Looking through the parts list, I've found out that the motherboard requires additional power for the processor via a ATX 12V 8-pin connector. The PSU doesn't seem to provide one. Is there any alternative, or do I need to get a better PSU for them?
The motherboard is MSI B85-G43 GAMING and the PSU seems to be some unknown brand one.. which honestly worries me, because I wouldn't be using anything other than a reliable, well known brand with such expensive hardware.
The PSU is a .. uh.... "Rebeltec Titan 700W" and it's specifications are rather difficult to find, but here they are:
ATX ver. 2.31 , 700W
2x Molex
4x SATA
2x CPU 12V 4pin
1x PCI Express 6pin
1x PCI Express 6+2pin
1x ATX 20+4pin
OVP, SCP, UVP, OPP, PFC, OTP filters
My questions are:
Can I use any of the provided connections (by the PSU) for the 8-pin processor power? and if so, is it safe or am I better off getting a proper PSU with that connector?
Also, does this seem like a decent PSU or should I avoid it like fire before it's too late and it becomes a fire? c:
