    Think I have messed up

Bought a brand new 500GB Samsung 850 EVO and was in the middle of diskparting it to clean and the power went out. Now I cannot even get the device recognized so any ideas on what I could have possibly done to the drive - like bricking it??

I know this seems a bit underhand but I would return it as faulty. The odds being that you will get a new replacement

Well it sorta started again on the clone and then stopped because of a broken pipe????? and anyway I have spent a great deal of money with them over the years so I shall just return it - a nuisance but heck I needed to do this clone tonight so am disappointed.

Have you tried getting Magician to see it and let it reflash it as full erase?

Didn't try the erase all RV because the last diskpart I tried it came up as a bad disk but I might try if you think it might help..

Meanwhile I have been onto the supplier and they are sending me a return postage label. I will await what you think

If your already returning it for exchange it couldn't hurt to try it, if it works I would still send it back though as it may still be faulty hardware. Try it for SCIENCE :)

Ouch! John. Good you are replacing it, even if it may continue to work. I would also try all kind of weird things with it now

Well I have got the drive back at my place and on my tester which is picking it up in diskpart , Partition Wizard and Macrium but not in the Samsung Magician software or in Computer but does in the Device Manager - and it does not say bad drive like it did in the Asus back at Lynne's place.

I then tried to clone the tester C: drive to it and Windows popped up a message saying this disk needs formatting so I did even though I had tried formatting using diskpart it kept asking for a volume so I left it .

I did the format as per Windows and am currently trying a clone of the tester machine C: drive and it seems to going fine. Now none of it is making any sense to me and it will be interesting to see if the clone actually fires up the tester when it is finished. If so I will try once more back at Lynne's place because I am beginning to think that the original install of Windows the seller put on the SSD I swapped into the Asus ROG just may be at fault though it does not explain what is happening this afternoon.

Thank heavens I saved an ISO of 7 Pro while they were still available as I might have to reinstall onto this larger drive or another new one that is coming.

An update the clone went flawlessly and this is being typed with the new drive hooked up to the SATA ports in the tester.

Now the old drive was a 830 - just a spare I had lying around but with this 850 hooked up the speed is out of sight.

So I might just try the 850 once more on the Asus if it doesn't work then I will suspect a problem with the Asus drive it as in now or that the system is corrupt.

See pic of the new clone. Any thoughts appreciated

Addit Have resized the C: partition as well see pic
