I wold be willing to pay for a decent driver that would enable me to use my N50 with win7. I have tried several and all of them fail. I would need someting that doesnt require alot of effort to use!

This may be a dumb question, but have you tried, just for the hell of it, the drivers for the N52?

I just starting using a custom made N50 program that I got from sourceforge.net, it took me a while to figure out how to set up the macros but after I got the hang of it the setup went pretty fast. Uninstall any Nostromo drivers you might have already installed and let windows 7 recognize and install its generic drivers first. Then you just copy the file to your hard drive. Open it up and setup your macros first. Then setup your profile. Last you run the command exe. It runs in the tray just like the original N50 drivers did. Im running Win 7 X64. It does take a little effort but it works perfectly.

I downloaded the sourceforge program for my n50 and have it up and running, but I have one issue with it. I only want my Nostromo to act as computer inputs, not perform some sort of macro (ie. have button 03 on Nostromo be mapped to the up arrow, 04 as 'Q', etc.) However, when I have the Profiler program up, it only appears to have the option to map buttons to macros, shift levels, or temporary shift levels. Even if I set a macro to simply press and depress a button (Q v, Q ^ for example, as a simple way to simply pressing a key) I get a result that is different than simply pressing that button on my keyboard. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I love using my n50 and would really like to not have to stop because using Windows 7, and as of now this program is the closest thing I can find to a working driver.

I found a fix that seems to work for the n50.

Install the newest Belkin n52 vista / win7 drivers. Plug in your n50. Then you need to open regedit, then find the gamepad.

Mine was in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/MediaProperties/Joystick/OEM/VID_050D&PID_0805

It's possible on your computer that last directory might be named something different. Just look through each directory in the OEM folder until you find it. The way you identify that it is the n50 is that the OEMName value will say something like '3 axis 10 button controller'

Once you've found it, edit the OEMName key by double clicking on it input 'Nostromo n50 Speedpad' hit ok. If you don't spell this correctly, it won't work. Close regedit and unplug then plug back in your n50. It should now work properly with the Belkin loadout manager.

The issue was the Loadout Manager was looking for a device named exactly 'Nostromo n50 Speedpad' but windows was calling it the '3 axis 10 button controller' or something like that. When it didn't see the n50's name it just assumed no n50 was installed.

Hope that helps!
