Is chkdsk the most effective way to make sure your SSD is error free

    Is chkdsk the most effective way to make sure your SSD is error free


    Curious about this . Are there more accurate or in depth error checking tools?

    As far as I know, chkdsk is OK to run on an SSD if you just use the "Automatically fix file system errors" choice.

    The other choice is "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". I've seen a lot of comments about it on an SSD, some saying it's just pointless and unnecessary and others saying it's outright harmful. At any rate, the SSD controller should take care of issues related to bad sectors.

    I'd just keep track of SMART readings and be sure not to defragment it. Other than that, leave it alone. I don't use chkdsk at all on mine.

    Thanks , i wish "Smart" was easier to understand . I saw info on Wilks but it's still confusing.

Hello. I decided to give Online Armor free firewall a chance and I really like it. Especially the HIPS. Anyway, I have version 7.0.0.1866, is this the most current? I find the Website confusing and want to be sure im not using some obsolete firewall. Thank you :) :geek:
chkdisk on my new Windows 7 install returned the following: This is a brand new clean install of Windows that's barely been used. What could have caused this? I'm trying to troubleshoot problems with slow boots and general lack of responsiveness, and have reinstalled three times now...
