    Two CD Drives are gone

During the last boot, after a MS Update, the system was not recognizing two of my CD drives but it did see my Blu-ray drive. Hard drives were not an issue.

I first did the FixIt routine without success. The second try was the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}”, also without success. Then tried the “create the registry subkey” which also did not work. Last thing I tried was going to the BIOS and they were both gone.

Went to the Update created Restore and got the error code 0x80070005.

I wanted to find out if there was another successful solution in getting my drives back?

If they are really gone in the BIOS (did you actually enter the BIOS to check or just check from Windows?), reset the BIOS and see if that helps.

What does the Device Manager show? Does show an error code such as "Code 19"? (which says the upper/lower filters need deletion in the Registry).
