After chkdsk completed I ran memory diagnosis from installation disk. Laptop restarted and just black screen with high fan. Nothing shows up on the screen.

I was getting stop e9 error at boot , and I thought possible problem could be dard disk, I ran chkdsk from installation disk in recovery mode. In recovery mode I ran chkdsk in cmd it completed OK. Then you have other options like stat up repair, memory diagnosis, cmd and other. I ran memory diagnosis, it restarted with just black screen.

What memory diagnosis did you perform ? Windows own ?

    Did it complete ?

Start from scratch, reseat/reattach your hard drive, reseat your memory modules, reboot the pc, what happens.

Always drain the power before proceeding.
