Windows 7: Weird boot up issue

I sometimes get this weird boot up issue where my system will just sit at the POST screen and not detect any devices. However, if I unplug my USB hub as well as anything in the front USB port (eg. my iPod), then turn the system on, it usually boots up normally. Sometimes the iPod and hub will be plugged into the USB port, and it boots up. However, sometimes, it might just sit there.

I don't remember having this issue with Vista or even with XP.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Ok I would check and see if there is an update to the BIOS on your motherboard also check in BIOS to make sure its not set to Boot from USB first.

The first and only boot device is my Western Digital Caviar hard drive. Nothing else is listed (no DVD-RW or BD-ROM/DVD-RW), although I can select it if I want. The optical drives are basically disabled on the boot menu, although they still work in Windows.

I don't have any of the USB drives listed in the boot menu. In the menu where you can configure USB devices, I think I have them set to "auto" instead of "hard drive". I'll check for a BIOS update. I know I had to update my BIOS before to support my Q9550. There's probably a newer one out now.

Okay I think I figured it out. If I don't plug in the iPod it works. However, if I do plug it in, it will just sit there. That doesn't sound like to big of a deal. Just have to plug it in after I boot the system up.
