impossible to format or delete local disk (not with OS)

Hi,

my friend asked me to enlarge his local disk with OS (don't have enough space on it). I have done it few times before with different computers - format neighbouring local disk, add requested space to the first one and create second local disk from the rest of the space. But it does not work with this computer, I cannnot erease, format, delete the neded disk. The option "Format" is grey in Disk Manager and when I tryed Acronis, it said it deleted the disk, but it only makes the used space smaller. Do you have any idea how to solve it? (I would prefere to not to reinstall it).
Thank you

Kat

If things are greyed out in windows, there must be a reason.

Try using Partition Wizard, either install it or make a Bootable CD.
