So I decided to order an internal hard drive dock, I hooked it up, and no power. The thing doesn't work. So I had to call amazon and they will be shipping a replacement. So annoying. This is what I ordered:

Amazon.com: Kingwin Single Bay Mobile Rack for 2.5-3.5 Inches SSD and HDD (KF-255-BK): Computers & Accessories

It got some good reviews, but I also saw a few bad ones, including one person that said it started smoking and damaged other drives connected to the power cable (I did not have any other drives connected). So now I'm worried. I can't seem to find many HDD and SSD internal drive bay docks. If anyone has a suggestion for a different one please let me know. Perhaps this one was just defective.

    Thanks.

Glad you got things working again. That HotSwap program seemed to do the job.

Could you fill in your system specs for us. It will follow your every post.
Your hotswap problem could be a motherboard and bios.

I have found that using a Samsung ssd will not work using clone in my system. They will not boot.

Intel ssd's do work with clone and do boot.

I use Macrium Reflect. I have no idea why. I tried several times with no luck.
In both cases I use HotSwaps.

Strange Jack as I have only used Samsungs mind you I use the USB to SATA adaptor - a fiddle havig to ge it to but has never failed me even the real cheap ones. The best I have is a Vantec one VANTEC CB-SATAU3-6 Adapter - Newegg.com

The cheaper ones off EBay for example have IDE connections to and around $12:)

Thanks. I filled in my system specs. Yea it seems my motherboard/bios/intel rapid storage, etc. was not treating the ports as hot swappable.

Note when I used macrium to clone the drive I had it connected to an internal sata port, not a docking station, although I don't see why it would make a difference if the docking station is connected to an internal port. So not sure why you have trouble cloning a samsung drive. Sorry to hear that.
