Not sure what link you're referring to I have not posted any :/
I'm sorry I am not clearly identifying the issues here. Frankly, I am unfamiliar with this technology. All I want is to use my touchpad/mouse as I have for the past 20 years. I don't want it to open pages online as I pass the mouse over it or rest the pointer on the link for a few seconds. This problem is making searching online difficult because the focus is opening links that I don't touch and when I try to use the previous page button on my browser and it does not return to the page that I was just viewing.
I have the Synaptics Touchpad V7.2 on PS/2 Port.
On the Buttons tab, I unchecked the "Turn on ClickLock."
Device settings:
I turned off all features in these categories:
Scrolling
-Pinch Zoom
-Rotating
Pointing
-Sensitivity
-Momentum
-Edge Motion
-Pointing Enhancements
Tapping features
Application Gestures
I have checked and my computer reports that my mouse is working properly. I am wondering if the drivers might be corrupted because even though I have all these touchpad/mouse features disabled, my mouse activity is getting worse. Now I only need touch an object (like the + sign on the Synaptics settings...it opens the options almost immediately), and when I hit the backspace button on my keyboard, it is taking me off the page I am viewing. When I open a program from the taskbar, the mouse shuts it down immediately.
This is EXTREMELY annoying and making using this computer very difficult.
Can I use some generic drivers that just give me the most basic of functions with this touchpad? I can't work on this computer the way it is acting right now, and just using an external mouse is not an option due to the way I am using this computer.
I was wondering if there is a specific order that I should have used to disable the features listed above, and that by not doing so in a specific order somehow keeps certain features (like the pointer locking onto internet links and files) active?
I tried finding a Synaptics forum, but could not find one.
Am I the only person on this planet who just wants old fashion touchpad/mouse features with a mouse that doesn't do anything without me left clicking? :-o
