    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH15F Drive

I have this weird behaviour on my Acer dekstop tower. The DVDRAM drive doesnt eject with button - the light is flashing but the tray doesnt come out, so I eject it with a pin. After putting a disc same - the light is flashing then nothing happens, its like going to sleep A few minutes later it awakes and you can burn a DVD without any problem.

What is the problem with it? Can I fix it ? I think its not caused by its driver/firmware, more likely physical mechanism or dust maybe ? Anyone had such problems?

    thanks

Your System Specs don't say anything about the computer's specs. If it's a Desktop a replacement drive is quite reasonable, repairing one isn't worth the effort even if a shop can be found to do it. Same for a Notebook albeit a bit more costly. Both types can be found for less than $100US and probably half that.

whats computer specs gotta do with a DVD drive? I mentioned its an Acer Tower, that means its a desktop PC. I was just curious why is it going to sleep, the drive works and burns fine.
