WD My Book Not initialized / Unallocated

Greetings, I will cut right down to the issue at hand seeing that I've spent two hours on this so far and no luck. The drive worked perfectly yesterday. It might of been connected through the USB port when I had an error screen (blue screen) about my SD port and then the system restarted itself. I guess the external HD failure could come from this. At the same time, even the active torrents I had, on my internal HD with no link to my external one, got deleted from Utorrent.

I have followed Jumanji steps from another thread regarding the MiniTool Partition Wizard as well as TestDisk. TestDisk does not list Mybook in the drives list nor does chkdsk command. Here are the screenshots. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello DeadlyKnight and I am sorry to hear about the My Book! :/

Unfortunately, if the drive was connected to the system in the moment of the BSOD happening, it really could be a good enough reason for the drive's state now. The Cyclic redundancy check normally occurs because of damaged or faulty drives.

Additionally, the MiniTool software shows the drive as “Bad disk”. So retrieving the data may be hard for home environment. You could try booting a Linux-based Live CD and checking if the drive is there and accessible.

Peppermint Live CD/DVD/USB - Create for Emergency Backup

Otherwise, you may have to turn to professional data recovery help, if you need the data from the drive. :/ WD has partners in the field:

Last thing you could try on your own is to try and fix the CRC error, but it could also be not possible. This tutorial may help you:

Best of luck and post back!

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Computer stopped working entirely when I did a reboot as my main internal hard drive became unstable as well. I decided to finally install my Samsung 850 Pro SSD that I bought at Black Friday in 2014. Did the tweaks and all, installed Win 7, then Win 10 x64. Now, I'm back online but with two bad discs. It is essential that I salvage everything from my internal HD. My external one, if nothing works, I will need to format it. 3TB of data will be sad to lose, but less than losing the drive.

I refuse to think I have no other options than to format both drives. I will keep trying to retrieve the data and be back here with the end results. Thanks for trying to help.

As for:

I can't do that as my bad discs have no letters attached to them as it can be seen in the pictures

Just one question for I am confused now.

Your 3 TB external drive shows as an MBR BAD Disk in one shot and ReadOnly BAD Disk in the other PW screenshot in post #1. Now with the new Win10x64 on the SSD, the same PW shows your 3 TB external drive as a GPT drive with a 128MB MSR partition and and the rest unallocated in post#3. Did you format the 3TB external drive as a GPT drive?

I first tried to initialize the disk using the first option which failed and gave me a cycle redundancy error, then tried the second option and it worked. Disc was now online and initialized. However, this hasn't changed anything at all.

Both bad discs are not formatted in any way. All the data is still present, just inaccessible.

You might have to try either Stellar or R-Studio. Not free, but, one of those two might help you recover whatever is recoverable.

Before trying any other software, please download the trial version of GetDataBack Simple, https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm scan your drives and check whether you can see all the data. We have had many success stories with that. If it shows your data you can also preview and determine whether all your data is intact.

I'm trying R-Studio but it seems the drive keeps suffering from 'cyclic redundancy check'.
