Windows 7: Can I run 64 or 32 bit version of windows 7

Can I run 64 or 32 bit version of windows 7

Have a system that was running Win XP. I wiped the HD clean with Dban before I checked to see if I could run 64 bit version of win 7. How can I find out now, thanks.

If the system is that bellow from the specs, yes you can run 32 and 64 bit versions. If you have 4 or more that 4GB RAM its recomended to go with 64 bit version, mainly for indexing the whole ram.

No..... that's not the system spec's I'm referring too. Different system. I know there is some info that shows up on the screen when I first turn on the system. ( no OS of coarse ) Is there some info there we can check?

You need a 64 bit capable cpu to run 64 bit.

What cpu is in the computer ?

The bios will tell what cpu is installed.

Go with 32 bit.

Even if you tried to install 64 bit and the cpu wasn`t capable, it would tell you the install cannot continue.

Anytime Upgrade from OEM version to full version??
