I've personally never had a Dell they are usually more expensive
I have in the past had good luck with Gateway and Acer

All manufactures make low powered machines to hit a specific price range
In Intel system on a 32 bit machine I try to stay as much over 2.00Ghz as possible
On a 64 bit system at least 2.50Ghz

So far both have been in use for about 6 years or since 2009

Dell motherboards are horrible and Dell has sub par support.

The one thing I noticed with my Dell boxes - it is a lot harder to work inside. They are pretty messy. So any changes or upgrades need careful planning.

Had a dell and really was fine for my use. You can see in my specs nothing special and from 2009 but dog smashed it, my fault really. Keep looking for offers on windows 7 laptops. Toshiba would be great but is expensive. Amazon.de and bestbuy.de.

A few years back I bought a refurbished Dell computer right from their website. I got it for a good price and so far I've had good luck with it. My son also bought a refurbished Dell from their website. He is the one who told me about them. You have to search their website a little bit because they seem to hide them. I guess they make more money off the new ones.

I think you are doing the right thing looking on Amazon and Best Buy. Stick to the big name places. If you have any trouble with the computer they probably will not give you a hard time returning it. Look for a place that has a good return policy.

Thank you Trustme you give me new courage in this jungle of advertisers. I noticed Dell puts these refurbisched laptops under small business. I keep looking and will succeed ☺

There are some good offers on here round the corner at Mediamarkt. Two laptop's priced 399 EUR.
First one is : Asus R540LA-XXO93T AND THE second one : ACER Aspire AS 17 (ES1-731-P3NH).
Downside they are both Windows 10.

I bought a Dell, not a refurb but a corporate return from their Outlet site, and am happy with it, though you have to check the specs very carefully. I think mine was special ordered by a company and then they cancelled the order and e.g. it doesn't have a Webcam (a good thing imo).

But since you are in Austria you will need to consider what local support you have for whatever you buy. Here near Austin TX I get experienced techs for sure...

BTW my Latitude was a higher-priced PC but I like Dell's docking stations and have two of them.
