Windows 7 - MS Bluetooth 5000 mouse quits

I'm running Win 7 x64 on a MacBook Pro bootcamp partition. My MS Bluetooth Notebook mouse 5000 worked great on Win 7RC x64. Since I installed the retail 7 version, I can't get the mouse to work for more than a few minutes. After repeated attempts to "add device" I can usually get the mouse to work but after a few minutes up to 25 minutes or so, it just stops working. The mouse still shows up under "devices and printers" but it won't work. I have to remove it and start over. It usually takes several tries. Windows recognizes the mouse every time but the connection fails most times. All drivers have been reloaded several times. I tried to find an updated driver on the MS site but the driver download does not list this mouse in the selection window.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I am running it on Dell Studio 15, Windows 7 x64 ultimate (so no bootcamping / mac issues). I only got the mouse this AM and it is doing exactly this - works for a while and then stops. I go through all the software and it really still thinks it is connected, but it is doing nothing. Any ideas?

Like BillGriz, I too am running the MS Notebook 5000 bluetooth mouse on a MacBookPro that is running Win 7 Ultimate under Bootcamp. I have no issues with the mouse on the Mac partition, nor did I have any issues with it under Windows 7 until recently.

In the last few days, while editing code in VB.Net window, it suddenly stops working. A reboot is all it takes, as the batteries are new and the drivers all seem to be fine. But it will not respond until I reboot.

So, if anyone has any ideas, there are at least three of us here with the same problem. In my case, the mouse works great 98% of the time. I've used it for at least 3 months with no problem whatsoever, but I found this topic on this forum due to it stopping a few times in the last few days.

BTW the VB.Net software I am writing is not doing anything that would affect any devices on the computer. I am just working with strings, text, and database connections, etc..

It does seem odd to me though that the mouse has never stopped working while booted on the Mac side, and I would wonder if it was a software incompatibility within Windows 7 somewhere. I recently switched to FireFox as my browser, but that is the only new SW I have installed in quite some time on the Windows 7 side.

Let me know if you have any knowledge or experience with this issue.

No solution yet and in fact it's gone downhill from the last mesage. Now if I try to connect the mouse doesn't show up at all. I've pretty much given up on it altogether. Tried updated drivers for Bluetooth etc. but no help. Still works great when in Mac though!!

Actually, my problem seems to have been related to a marginal battery. Once I replaced it with a KNOWN FRESH battery, all has been well for days. However, I did come across a link about bluetooth mouse AND Keyboard problems (MacBook Pro's running bootcamp) with an interesting tidbit. I apologize for not being able to find the thread again at the moment, but the heart of the matter was this.

The one guy (that seemed quite knowledgeable) insisted that the Mac side of the dual boot laptop hangs onto the bluetooth device (s) too tightly sometimes. His solution was to REMOVE (uninstall) the bluetooth mouse from the Windows side entirely as step # 1. THEN - REMOVE (Uninstall) the bluetooth mouse from the Mac side entirely, doing a reboot to make sure, checking control panel settings, etc. (and having a usb mouse around for a few minutes).

Then, boot into Windows, and install the bluetooth mouse there (FIRST). He insisted that once that was done and operational (again after a reboot to make sure) that you could THEN install it on the Mac side, and all would be well in either Windows or Mac.

I don't know if that is correct or not, but his explanation sounded pretty logical, and I thought you might be interested since you are having such a hard time.

Also, Apple just released a new version of Bootcamp and one of the fixes was to address that apple mighty mouse. So, you could probably get one of these to work on the Windows side now, which was a problem before.

Again, cannot verify any of this, but thought you might like to hear what i had come across during some intensive Googling.
