Micro SD card reader in XPS One 2710?

My XPS One 2710 has a card reader. I have never used it. Now I have the possibility to use a Micro SD card from a phone but don't know if it will work in the slot. Or is it only for other SD cards? Does anyone know about this?

    Thanks for any help.

It should work as long as it's a micro SD slot and the card fits. If not, you could use a micro to SD card adapter (available where most SD cards are sold) and plug it in that way. Either way, the reader should have no problem with it. Micro SD cards are just like SD cards, only smaller.

Thanks for quick reply! Not sure if slot is Micro or regular SD. It's about an inch long. I don't currently have a Micro. I'll have to buy one for the phone but reluctant if computer won't accept it and need to get adapter also. Maybe I should call Dell and see if they know what kind of slot it is.

    hi
from your description sounds like a sc card slot not a micro. you will need an adaptor for the mico sd card. they are cheap. here is an example of one Amazon.com: SanDisk microSD to SD Memory Card Adapter (MICROSD-ADAPTER): Computers & Accessories

    According to this,

The card reader is an 8 in one reader, micro is not one of the 8 though,

    Media-card reader
    Type one 8-in-1 slot
    Cards supported • SDXC (SD3.0)
    • Multi Media Card (MMC)
    • Secure Digital (SD)
    • Hi Speed-SD
    • Hi Capacity-SD
    • Memory Stick (MS)
    • Memory Stick PRO
    • xD-Picture Card
You said you don't have the micro yet, just get one that comes with an adapter, that's pretty common.

    Here's one at Walmart,

Samsung 32GB EVO Class 10 microSD Card with Adapter - Walmart.com
