how to trim ssd

hi,

using win7, just put in a new ssd drive, enabled trim in CMD,

does trim run automatic or do i run it manual, i only have a defrag option that i know i must not use,defrag is set so it does not run, please help, some guys talk about using a optimize option, i can not find this on my laptop,

You might fill out your system specs with considerably more detail so prospective helpers have a better idea of your situation.

Generally---trim doesn't require manual intervention.

About all I'd worry about is defrag off, alignment known to be proper, partitions as I want them, and benchmarked performance known to be similar to other SSDs of that model and size. You can tweak hibernation or page file size or space devoted to System Restore if you have any concerns about insufficient space on the SSD.

I know TRIM is enabled: C:\Windows\system32>fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify DisableDeleteNotify = 0 but how do I tell the SSD to do the retrim like I can in Windows 8 with the defrag c: /o command? DO I need another program?

Havae just fitted a Crucial M4 and it is running like a misile, but cannot find out if it is runnig TRIM. A Google told me to run "fsutil behavior query disbaledeletenotify" but after a brief flash of the screen nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong.
