Windows 7: BROADWELL E is Around the Corner and I am Concerned

I used one of the tech previews and I was on the fence about installing 10 on a VM once it came out but I didn't like the UI although I appreciate the partial return of the start menu. I really don't like cortana either, the cloud integration, the bing integration, and the lack of control over updates so when I read about the privacy concerns that did it for me. I have a mac but I have thought about putting 7 on it so I've decided that I'll never have 10 on it-I am not giving up my 7 key for it. My mom bought a rebuilt computer with 7 on it and I did not update it to 10 either. If M$ does not at the least remove the spyware from their systems then I can't see myself moving past 7 on my own system or VMs.

Ironically when 7 came out I was happy with Vista and not too thrilled with the 7 beta or RC so I was going to skip 7 however I couldn't pass up the pre-order sale. Now I am glad I didn't. If you give up a serial for 7 in order to upgrade to 10 can you get it back if you decide to downgrade later?

Meditate on this wisdom

The more I read Lady Fitzgerald's posts the more sense she makes over time. Has anyone looked at the new Broadwell E releases and seen the preposterous prices Intel is charging for a less than a 20% increase in over all performance???

I finally was able to recently glom on to two ASUS X99-E WS/USB 3.1 MOBOs (one will be a spare) but decided to get a Haswell-e CPU i7-5930) instead of Broadwell-e because, besides Broadwell-e not having any improvement over Haswell-e for me, I'm afraid MS may pull the same stunt they did with Skylake when they told people, including many who had already bought it, that they would be forced to upgrade to Win 10 before their current OS reached EOL or the support they had been promised would be reduced.

Frankly, I don't trust MS any further than I could throw Sadist Nutella (Satya Nadella).

Congratulations! The prices on those MOBOS are slowly dropping and I DO mean slowly. It's hard enough to find them in stock as it is. I'm humored that you went with the 5930 because that's what I was seriously looking at last night. You're definitely singing my song when it comes to Microsoft. I'm not impressed with the recent stunts Intel is pulling off either. The outrageous prices on the new Broadwell E chips are more than double the forecasted numbers before Broadwell E was officially released on the retail market and it would seem that my concerns about the whole Broadwell E thing were indeed valid. I'm so disgusted with this Intel/Microsoft Windows 10 ploy I've half a mind to go Linux/AMD. Intel needs to get their head out of Clouds and realize that North America is practically heading for a 3rd. World Economy status. I highly doubt that they will see the sort of volume in sales that will justify the prices they are asking for their Broadwell E chips. But I'm tired of waiting for ZEN and like you, I want those 12 SATA ports. This might be my last personal Microsoft/Intel build.

To be fair we really can't assume that M$ and Intel have any kind of arrangement but it is certainly suspicious. I still doubt that Intel will block the use of any OS but Windows 10 but that doesn't mean that they will have drivers for 7. If that's the case users can still install 7 and get most of the functionality.

This article says MS and Intel indeed do have a relationship. Since this article was written, MS delayed implementing the reduced support by a year due to enterprises raising a ruction over MS' and Intel's (may they roast) dastardly action.

They have enough of a relationship going that I've been wondering if they aren't planning on a merger. Even when I tried to reactivate Intel's Matrix Storage on a re-installation of Vista for RAID 1 on my daughter's PC Intel advised me that the o/s didn't support the program. Funny... The o/s supported it for well-over two years beforehand without issue. Go figure. One hand washes the other.

I'm not so sure that one hand doesn't know what the other is...ah...doing.

One would think one would be so accommodating. Evidently both are happy to accommodate one another's greed but methinks they are both about to discover the extent to which they would overclock the monetary system. I have to hand it to M$ though, they evidently had the foresight to hoodwink millions into thinking that what they already paid for is "free" while at the same time convincing them to hand over ownership of their PCs to Microsoft in exchange for this "free" usage. Probably one of the best played scams in the history of Win-doze.

Chillout Room
I'm concerned now.
I was wanting to get a Windows 7 machine and being a hard core gamer I have read many posts about games like flightsim that don't work in the 64 bit environment, so I am thinking of abandoning the whole Windows machine idea if my 32 bit programs wont run or run poorly. I heard nothing but good...
