Yeah, isn't this the clincher? >>> "Microsoft recently announced that Windows 10 will be automatically rolled out to all users of Windows 7 or 8 next year -- but only for those who have selected to receive updates".

I seriously regret not learning Linux.

I think it means what it says. You either stop accepting updates or it auto-downloads. By the looks of Windows 10 already it likely auto-installs too.

Oh great. So after that they force their "freebie" down your throat and send you a bill? Not everyone is interested in owning the key logger edition. *Correction* "Using" the key logger edition. One never owns the MS O/S

Well I have not been downloading anything for soe time now unless I know it is free from 10 stuff and even so with the GWX Control Panel I am still picking off files related to 10.

FWIW I cannot see any difference in the operation of my machines not having updates if that is what they are downloaded and installed.

Getting back to the question I feel sorry for anyone now wanting to build as in what is one supposed to build with??

    Edit
I seriously regret not learning Linux.
It isn't that had I am doing it right now on my old Toshiba and it is quick the only thing I find difficult is it uses a lot of Terminal commands to do things in it. Terminal = Command prompt

As far as I can tell the op is waiting for features he doesn't have now as if the world ends without the features :)
x99 is fine with or without the E series cpu's.
Wait and the saying goes you will never build

I waited through all the Sandy and Ivy bridges after my Bloomfield X58 build before building my Haswell Z87 system. I wish I had waited longer for the X99.
