    keyboard frezee

I have the most weird case ever: have several HP computers ( elitedesk 800 G1 Tower) with a image deployed to them and in ocassions the hp usb keyboard (that came with the computer) just frezzes while user is working, this is a random thing, to fix it the user have to unplug the usb keyboard and plugged to another usb port.

    what i have done far:

    1. Replace the keyboard with another same hp usb keyboard - didn't work
    2. Check on power saving properties to see if it disables the usb ports to save - didn't work
    3. Reinstall, update drivers to latest as per HP - didn't work.
    4. format the computer - didn't work.
    5. Uninstall all usb ports, restar computer to let windows enable them - didn't work
    6. Extracted usb drivers from one pc with the original software it came with and deploy it to the trouble computers - didn't work
    7. Also checked the power required for the usb keyboard (ma) to see if is above the available per each port: on some computer it shows the MA on some not, for the one that shows it doesnt reach the max power available so i'm guessing that it applies same to the one that doesn't show.

    What works:

Installing a generic usb keyboard, but this doesn't work for me as i have around 50 computers that came with their keyboards.

Hp support make us run a diagnostic tool that shows wether the usb are working fine, and seems to but something is making the keyboard (only) to fail.

I'm desperate and appreciate your help.

    Thx

What do you mean you are extracting the driver ?

Are you using the driver installer properly, are you using the executable file ?

We extracted the driver from one pc that came with the original sofware (not an image) to test as per HP suggestions, we went to device manager and updated the driver by indicating the location

You can`t do that. You can`t extract an installed driver.

You need to download the driver and install it on the problem PC.

Sounds like your image is corrupt.

Not even sure why you even need to add a keyboard driver, windows should handle it, if it`s a simple generic keyboard.

Just put the driver on a shared folder on the server and install it to the problem PC`s.

Or walk around with a flash drive and do it, whatever it takes :)
