System restore failed after installing new motherboard and cpu (0x490)

Coming from the current specs on my profile now, I have upgraded the motherboard and processor to a z170a Gaming m3 and i7-6700k. After attempting startup repair, this pops up:

--------------------------------------------

A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting.
Repair action: System Restore
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 0 ms
Repair action: System Restore
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 0 ms
Repair action: system files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed. Error code 0x490
Time taken = 1033319ms

--------------------------------------------

NOTE: I am unable to move past the welcome screen as it crashes the computer and restarts before finished loading

Hi when you installed the new motherboard and cpu. you should reinstall the os. as the motherboard will use different drivers then previous motherboard. so my suggestion would install a fresh copy of the os.

It will be a while before I can get my hands on another win7 install disk. My pc came preinstalled with win7, dont have a disk, and I dont know the product key. Will installing a new os affect any of my hard drive information, or will I have to back up my data?

The product key should be on the COA sticker that is on the PC. If you download that exact version of Windows, you can burn your own installation disc. It is always advised to backup the data.

The COA sticker is long gone with an older case that got thrown out. If I ordered a new win7 install disk of the same exact os, will there be any conflict with the exsisting os?

You can get an installation iso to put on a dvd or flash drive using Chrome and this process
You will need another activation key though

Going into safe mode crashes the computer and it restarts
