Could my monitor be starting to fail?

Every so often I get a split second horizontal flickering across the center of my screen (happens during gaming sometimes too!) and this worries me as if it is a sign of my monitor showing signs of the beginning of the end. I highly doubt it's my video card as I am having no issues for the past 3 years and I also don't run things at maximum as well.

There is no fuzzy text/images, there are no issues with it powering on and there are no odd coloration or patterns but there is the flickering mentioned. I do believe I've had this monitor for a good 4-5 years so far and it's a 20 inch LCD widescreen Acer.

I'd like some second opinions before I go and make a purchase to replace this monitor.

Hello Glaice ate it could be either the monitor or the GPU have you updated the driver for the GPU and checked in msinfo32 or Device Manager for problem devices?
