Drive set to read only after installing it in a new pc

Hello,

I recently built a new pc, with the intention of using the Toshiba SSD from my old laptop that is defunct(win 7 home premium was installed on my own). I completed the build this evening, ensured everything was properly connected, and booted it up, thinking I would just have to install the motherboard driver and be mostly up and running.

I was wrong. It restarted a couple times after powering on, then wanted to start scanning for issues, because it couldn't start Windows fully.

That told me it can't fix the errors, showing error code 0x0. When I tried to run chkdsk from the command prompt, it tells me that the disk is read only, or write protected. Is there any way to do this without reformatting the drive? I haven't been able to find my windows reg key. There are also no system restore points, unfortunately.

The mother board I'm using is Gigabyte AMD FM2+ A68H SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 mATX ATX DDR3 2133 NA Motherboards GA-F2A68HM-H

I have no experience with Toshiba SSDs, but I would suggest plugging it into another machine already running Windows and run Toshiba SSD Utility (go here, select SSD in list on left, then "Q300 Series SSD Storage Utility").
