Is this is a good deal?

I'm not sure why you are insisting on an ssd especially if computer manufacturers charge a premium for them compared to regular hard drives. If you can buy your own for cheaper then why not do that? You can easily use software to move the data from one drive to another. Also a regular hard drive is cheaper than a SSD. For $750 I would want for it to be brand new and have a monitor. What version of 7 is it?

Im insisting because I dont want to have to deal with the hassle of moving over the OS.

Its 7 pro.

I'd say only a small chance you'll need more than 4 GB of RAM. You can keep track of your usage easily enough.

Win 7 Home Premium or Pro? You likely don't need Pro.

i5-6500 is overkill, but if you can afford it, it would likely be adequate for a longer period than say an i3-6100. And I think you did use the "F" word in a previous post, so a 6500 might make sense.

Just hope you don't have to deal with Dell support if you have a problem. You'll likely be connected to "George" or "Jim", a native of Bangladesh or India, and end up rending your own flesh. Been there my own self.

But that's true of all the big OEM builders.

Yea, I figure the i5 and the SSD will give me some "future-proofing" and I can always pop in another 4gb of RAM if need be.
I didnt want to go above 650 but I felt like piece of mind with a brand new unit, a full warranty, an SSD and a present generation chip are worth the extra 1-$150 spent

First thing I'd do is get into the Windows Update settings and set it to show you only Windows stuff and not to download anything. Uncheck the "recommended updates" control. You want to personally control the updates as best you can.

Consider installing GWX Control Panel Monitor or Never 10 to help you avoid Windows 10.

Even if you do, I'd do a clean install of it, rather than get it through Windows Update.

Get yourself wise to an imaging application like Macrium Reflect.

Know what you'd do if your SSD drops dead and you have to recover from that and reinstall Windows and your applications and your data.
