Device ID out of range?

I use my 3.5mm audio input at times to record things to my computer using audio software. Never had a problem in the past but today suddenly I am getting an error about a device ID being out of range of the system or something like that.

The only thing I have changed since I last did any recording was migrating to a SSHD and that was just cloning my old HD to the new one. Everything else works fine on the computer though.

Also, when I go to sounds and check the recording tab, it says nothing is plugged into the input jack even though there is something connected.

Any ideas on a solution? Thanks
