Print Queue Question

So while working as the print administrator for a large healthcare company, I had a big wig come to me expressing concern over a "vulnerability" with their network printers. So when he right clicks on a network printer on his computer, he selects "see what's printing" and can see the jobs that are in the print queue for that printer that are waiting to be printed. Now keep in mind, most times you can only see this if there is an issue with the printer not printing, such as if it's jammed or out of ink, or if there are too many secure print jobs eating up the printer memory and backing up the print jobs onto the print server.

We have several users who don't understand that after they send these secure print jobs to the printer, they need to go release them in a timely manner so as not to eat up the memory of the printer.

So his issue is, anyone can select "see what's printing" on these network printers and see the jobs sitting in the queue and can delete any print job from there. I have been looking to see if there is an option to turn that off, but so far I cannot locate anything of this nature. Can you disable the "see what's printing" feature?

Are you certain anyone can cancel somebody else's print job? Or, does that action require admin-level? I'm asking 'cause I want to learn more about this. And, meanwhile, if I run across a utility that might provide an off-switch to that panel, I'll post it here.

I am about to test that theory with an employee since I have admin rights and can see the print jobs for the printer on my pc so I am going to check on an end user's pc who doesn't admin rights. I will let you know.

So that theory of what the big wig is sharing has been shot down. You can't go in, which is what I thought and delete any print jobs other than your own unless you have admin level rights. So now I would need to find out form him how he has admin level rights to the print server queue...interesting... Thanks for responding sir!

You might be better off simply letting him know that he and you are the only ones that can cancel somebody else's print job, it doesn't matter how he got the powers, what matters: do you silently remove his power, or, simply hope he gets back to work on The Big Stuff

When printing, print jobs are showing in the print queue as paused.
I have an end user that is printing to a networked Xerox printer. When he prints, his print jobs automatically show in the print queue as "paused". This only happens on the Xerox. I had him try doing this with a networked HP in his area and it doesn't happen on that printer. I have removed and...
