Check his spec.
Read what the OP says not what ThrashZone says.

The OP said, "i was just using my pc and out of nowhere some keys stopped working here are the keys;shift enter a b n \ and |."

He used his laptop to post here.

is this fixable?

Let's read and analysis what the OP stated in his posts.

1. PC basic meaning is "Personal Computer" and if you check both of OP posts, it never stated as using Desktop PC.

2. using toshiba laptop and both posts did not stated as Desktop PC.

3. using win7 and it is the original OS OP ignore your post and the statement refer to ThashZone which do indicated on about win7.

4. Your post #3 and Megahertz07 post #5
OP ignore both posts as OP could be using external keyboard to connect to his laptop and send these posts.

5. Not all users here (include me) are expert in English writing and grammar.

6. PC is a common word for both Desktop and Laptop.
As OP had already mentioned the word "Toshiba Laptop" in his 1st port AND his spec is on Laptop.

7. Your 1 sentence statement has no effect as OP has ignore your 1 and only post.

8. Your assumption has no effect, as you think that if everyone mentioned PC is mean Desktop which is not.
Yes, you have a great Desktop and proud of it that you do built yourself.

9. Lastly, why do PC users post here to seek advice on keyboard.
I do not know about your country; but desktop keyboard are very cheap.
Why do OP write here and wait for assistance.
If it is just desktop keyboard, he can just walk to any PC shop to purchase new keyboard.

There is no point to argue just because it is keyboard issue.
I rest my case.

It is you who are assuming it is his laptop. Not me. I go by what is said.

Yes, PC means personal computer but typically, if a person refers to a PC in one sentence, then laptop in the next, they know the difference. And since the OP said the letters a, b, and n stopped working, but clearly were working in his post where he said he is now "using toshiba laptop" where a, b, and n appear to be working just fine, I go by my original comment and say to go by what the OP says, not what you think and assume he means - at least until he comes back and clarifies. If I am wrong, then I will say so.

As far as your other comments, they are pretty sad - a clear indication you cannot accept you might be wrong. Plus, your assumptions are irrational and unjustified.

#3 and #4 You accuse the OP of ignoring posts when you don't know if the OP even is aware there have been replies, or if he is able to return.

#5 Your lack of writing and grammar skills does NOT imply or suggest you are more capable of assuming correctly what others mean.

#7 That's just silly. Did the OP respond to your comment? No. So by your "assumptions" he is "ignoring" you too.

# 8 Also silly. My PC (which is NOT a desktop, BTW, but a tower PC) has nothing to do with this, or my pride. I think that was a pretty puerile comment.

#9 Also silly. People come to forums like this all the time posting questions, seeking advice, then waiting for answers. That is exactly what these forums are for.

"IF" it is a keyboard, yes. But it is better to borrow and try another first before spending money on a new keyboard that may not be the problems. There are other reasons, besides a failing keyboard, that can cause keyboard input to fail.

You made no case.

It is obvious the OP is using laptop. The op should hook up an external keyboard to see if that works or the onscreen keyboard. If they do same thing then most likely the controller is bad on motherboard but if the external or onscreen work correctly then laptop keyboard is faulty.
EDIT op not been back for a week so should wait for a reply from them.

Yeah, that can be a problem too. Unless the OP states the system listed in the System Specs is the one in question in his post, we, as helpers/responders cannot assume it is.

Many people have more than one computer. I have 6 in this house, 4 PCs, 1 HTPC, and 1 notebook (and a tablet but not really counting that). But my system specs only lists the computer I am using now.

But also, many come here seeking advice on problems their friend or relative is having with their computer. So I never pay attention to the System Specs unless it has already been made clear that is the computer in question.

Hi,
The only obvious thing I've noticed is the op left the building a week ago and has not returned

Right. That suggests, but does not conclude, his problem was resolved and has neglected to revisit the sites he posted his problem to provide a followup. I hope that is not the case because failing to followup on your threads is considered poor forum etiquette as it leaves threads dangling, but also helps no one who may be having the same problem.

It is obvious he is using his laptop to post his issue here, but it is not obvious that is the computer that has the problems. If it were, the letters a, b, and n would be missing from his opening post!
