SSD Migration Interrupted

I had my friend help me install my SSD, mainly because I hadn't seen them in a while and because I like to have an extra pair of eyes in case something goes wrong. The install was fine, but I used EaseUS Partition Master to migrate my Windows folder from the HDD to the SSD. My friend offered to check on the program, since it seemed to be taking a long time. When he came back downstairs, he informed me that the program seemed to be stuck on 70% and he reacted by doing a hard shutdown on the system. I didn't think much of it because when the computer booted again, it was much faster than before and all of my programs that normally load at startup worked with no errors.

I guess I have two questions:
1. Should I be worried?
2. If something happens in the future, is there a way to undo the move from the hdd and basically restore it back to the point where the SSD wasn't installed?

Make routine bi-monthly full image backups of your OS and Data partitions on trusted external media -- that would be cleaner than trying to reverse the present set up. However, let's await what others say.

Is the computer booting from the new SSD or still booting from the old HDD. Have you disconnected the old HDD to see if the computer will boot from the new SSD. If it does all may be well, but if it doesn't then the cloning has not worked.

I would be very suspicious if the migration seemed to hang at 70% & your friend did a hard shut down. This would very likely corrupt the cloning process in the new SSD.

How big is your SSD and the HDD?
Did you made a full disk clone or just a partition?
As Ranger asked, after cloning, did you removed the HDD and left only the SSD to see if it boots?
There is nothing like a clean install. And you can use Kari tutorial to place the OS and programs on the SSD and the Users folder and all your files to the HDD.

I'm not sure from which drive it is booting. I can say that it did boot much faster than it did before the install, which--to me--would indicate it's booting from the SSD. I have placed an attachment of my disk management. It says that the SSD is the boot drive.

I didn't do a full clone, I just moved the C partition to the SSD. I already have the drive setup with the os/programs on the C drive, and my files and user folder on the D drive.

Thanks for getting back. Yes, it seems that the SSD is the boot drive, so all seems to be well.

Should I punch my friend in the face, just in case?

Not too fast, yet.

Go to each folders to check if there are files inside the folder.

What you see may not be what is inside.

Most probably the folders are in placed.
But what about the files & sub-folders.

Do several test to ensure it is good, before punching your friend.

Do create a system restore point, before you start.
Open some programs to check it is on working conditions.
If there are sound and video files, play the video and sound.
Do a Restart. Then do a shutdown. Then turn on.
Surf the internet.

Go to the Windows updates to check if it is still working, if hang then use Task Manager to close.

Any other tests, it is up to you.

I notice that the pagefile is in D:\ drive.
This may slow down your system, and may cause error.

You need to reset the pagefile back to C:\ drive.
In case the D:\ drive may act funny, which may cause your system also funny.
Once your put back the pagefile to C:\ drive, then the D:\ will have "Primary Partition", will do.

It is best to let the pagefile stay at C:\ drive.
After completed, you need to restart and check the location of the pagefile, as confirmation.

Eric, why do you think that the page file on D may cause an error?
Page file is virtual memory and can be on any drive. With a lot of memory (8G) the system probably won't need to use the virtual memory.
I myself have 8G of memory and my page file is on D drive, fixed value (min=Max=16G). Been using this configurations for more than 4 years without any problem.
