Optiplex 780 connection light stays on?

Yesterday when I started my computer the light stayed on. Tried rebooting modem, and computer to no avail.
Have no problem connecting to internet, everything is working as it should, other then the light on the front panel is on. Any thoughts on how to turn it off?

There is a power light and the four diagnostic lights. What is staying on? The diagnostic lights? The power light should be on green (operating).

Here is what the manual says about that light.
Network connectivity light green — indicates that a good connection exists between the network and the computer
off (no light) — indicates that the computer is not detecting a physical connection to the network

Apparently it should be on if you are connecting to an Ethernet (RJ45) connection(??)

fireberd, That's what is so confusing, it's never been on from day one. Oh well I guess I don't have a problem then. I won't worry about it.
Thanks for your replies and support..

Have you changed anything or updated any drivers?

Maybe the internal connection to the motherboard just finally made connection. Dell's can have flakey connections to the motherboard. Many older Dell's only have one proprietary (and undocumented) front panel connection to the motherboard. I used to work the Dell support forums and reseating (unplugging then plugging back in) the front panel connector was a frequent fix for front panel problems.

    Hi,
I made that isp switch myself and the only difference it should make is comcast is a heck of a lot faster :)

You could try powering off then unplug the machine from any power source and or remove the battery if a laptop then hold down the power button for about one minute to drain all power.
Then plug everything back up and see if it makes any difference.

I know that you have marked this thread as solved - but I have a question for you:
When you were with AT&T's U-verse, did you use a Wi-Fi connection with this computer? Several AT&T U-verse setups that I've seen use a USB wireless network adapter on older desktop computers. If you were using Wi-Fi, then that connection light probably would not be on.
