Is my Epson xp310 printer dead?

Is my Epson xp310 printer dead?

I had some issue with it printing black. Missing spots. Now it prints blank pages. I changed to grayscale only and all it printed out was a glob of black ink. Tried all the maintenance stuff, still not working. The only thing I haven't tried is re-installing the printer.

If reinstalling the printer doesn't work. I am thinking of buying the remanufactured cartridge it might do better.

    Any other suggestions or ideas?

Hello Groze mate how old is the printer? Now it sounds to me like the cleaning process the printer runs before actually printing that mechanisim as you know initiates when you power the machine on or start just before printing the documant / pic it may be clogged itself or simply malfunctioning.

In my experience with aftermarket cartridges they are simply not worth it unless youn find a brand of printer that will take ones that do work real well.

For example I used Canon for years and the inks got so expensive and the machines so noisy that I switched to an HP inkjet but the drawback as against the Canon is it will not accept the inbuilt chip they put in the after market cartridges so I have to use genuine HP ones.

One thing I have found though is to shut off the printer when the job is finished if you are only printing one thing or at the end of the day, this limits the number of clean cycles the machine will have to do hence less clogging and it saves a lot of ink too because it does use a considerable amount of ink to run through that clean cycle.
