If thats the case, im close to 100 percent sure he did not transfer windows from one drive to another.

Here is another response from someone on another forum and looking on your feedback on this. I guess from this post, Dell did install windows 10 on the 32gb?

Your repair guys a complete idiot, windows should not be on the C drive and he should have told you this if he knew what he was doing. Dell SCREWED UP as always with refurb 32gb 9550's and reinstalled windows to the 32gb instead of the 1tb (they always screw this up).
If this guy on the other forum is right, then yeah, Dell may have screwed up. Maybe Win 10 was on the 32 GB SSD when you got it and your guy didn't transfer or clean install anything. All he may have done is replace the 1 TB with your 250 GB SSD.

    Possible. I don't know.

So obviously im not going to fix this issue myself and will head back to repair shop. The thing is this guy is very smart with computers. The thing is maybe he misunderstood me? However, im pretty certain that i explained what i wanted as simple as possible though. I mean i basically asked i like to have hard drives changed and erase SSD and thats all. I mean thats as simple as it gets right?
    Yeah, that's simple.

That may be exactly what he did. And all he did. Swap drives and erase SSD.

The rest of it is on you.

Hey there im pretty positive this guy on the other forum is right. He posted a lot on the dell xps forum there especially about this laptop. But do you know how long is the process to do that transfer?

Yes all he did was replace my 1tb with the 250gb ssd. When he did this, i asked him could he wiped my 250gb ssd since it showed 115gb available out of 232gb and he did with disk management where it is 230gb out of 232gb free etc. So he didn't transfer or clean install. Thats why i was confused a bit when he said thats all so i didn't ask him about clean install etc.

The guy i go to is a very honest guy. I know some of you guys say certain places are shady etc but this guy is honest. However, I think the reason is because he made a mistake due to that 32gb ssd drive. That is the only thing that i can think of that he doesn't deal with those at all and its always 1 hard drive in the computer.
If you were to take him to court, he would likely say "The customer asked me to swap drives and wipe the SSD. I did that. He didn't ask me to put Windows on the 250 GB drive. Windows was on the 32 GB when I got it and when I gave it back to him." Bang goes the judge's gavel.

But did he know that my windows shouldnt be on the C drive though like the person from the other forum mentioned? Thats what i thought as well. Even if i tell him i want to swap hard drives, isn't it common sense that there should not be 1 reason it should be like this? Thus he didn't mention if i keep it like this, then you only have like 2gb that you can use and you cant use the 250gb ssd etc. I mean if i was a computer repair person and someone else told me they wanted to do so and so and then i know their computer would be left like this, i would say well you can't keep it like this because you have no space on your computer. Is there a chance that he didn't know or forgot about it somehow? I mean he knew windows 10 was on the 32gb obviously otherwise windows wont boot. So that makes no sense. Thus if i was repair shop person and doing this, i would refuse to set the computer up like this because your computer is going to be unusable.

Ordinarily, a transfer of a 30 GB installation shouldn't take over a half hour, depending on if it was a transfer by clone or by image. But it seems your shop may not have transferred Windows at all. He seems to have moved the page file to the 250 GB drive, but that takes seconds.

I just want my laptop set up correctly. The other person on the other forum ask me to even ask my money back which obviously i wouldn't do and i think is ridiculous.

But why didn't he recommend or tell me but i have to put windows on the 250gb first before i was leaving? Do you know by any chance how long something like that takes? So now i have to bring it back there, does he need to open up my laptop? Or can he just do it like that? And most importantly, do you recommend windows clean install or image/cloning? Does one generally cost more than the other?

I also like to add that i paid $20 to get my hard drive switched with the ssd and having the ssd wiped which was pretty cheap. Im assuming the copying will cost much more based on this?

So does that mean if the 1tb hard drive did not have windows 10 on it, then i have the same issue now no matter what? Im asking the other person on the forum to see if he had windows 10 installed on the 1tb hard drive as well but i have a feeling he will say its only on the 32gb ssd.

He may never have seen a situation like this, with Windows installed in the wrong place by Dell refurb (on the 32 GB SSD) and may have thought that Dell thought it was correct.

Thus he didn't mention if i keep it like this, then you only have like 2gb that you can use and you cant use the 250gb ssd etc.

You can use the 250, but you can't easily use it for Windows. I'd say it's mostly "the customer asked me to do X and I did X".

I mean if i was a computer repair person and someone else told me they wanted to do so and so and then i know their computer would be left like this, i would say well you can't keep it like this because you have no space on your computer. Who knows? You can argue with him about it if you want. What's the point?

You either go back to him or you don't. Go elsewhere if that makes you more comfortable.

I mean he knew windows 10 was on the 32gb obviously otherwise windows wont boot. So that makes no sense. Thus if i was repair shop person and doing this, i would refuse to set the computer up like this because your computer is going to be unusable.

If you refused, you don't think the customer is always right, which you agreed to earlier an hour or so ago.

Sounds like you have less confidence in him. Go down the road to another shop. Or don't.

You are on the hot seat.
