    Hi:

    Sorry.
But HP (and I think other manufacturers) have been trying to restrict customers to use only their own, branded, new cartridges. (That is how they make their money, not from the printer itself.)
I understand why someone would want to re-use ink cartridges or to substitute cheaper ones.
But AFAIK HP has engineered their printers and their cartridges to prevent that.

I'm pretty sure even a genuine HP cartridge that has been removed and replaced in the same printer will be seen as such.
(And just because it may have worked once does not mean that it will work repeatedly over time.)

In order to troubleshoot, I suggest purchasing ONE legitimate, fresh, new HP brand cartridge and trying that.
If it works, then it would help to confirm suspicion that it is the "reused" cartridge contributing to or causing the problem.
If it does not work, then it would suggest that you have a problem with the printer itself.

Additionally: even if the refilling itself were not an issue from a DRM standpoint, there is probably a limit to the number of times that will work. At some point, the cartridge will fail. They are NOT designed for refilling and multiple reuse many, many times or for moving from one printer to another.

That's all I have to suggest.
If you want to try hacks or other workarounds, that's certainly up to you.:)

    Sorry I could not help.

    Cheers,

    MM

thanks all guys for your valuable time and input, i will first repair the printer if it didnt help then i will buy a brand new cartridge

this is very true - thus chips on cartridges etc

    Try this. Cost nothing.

Remove the printer program and drivers completely.
Then reboot. Windows has basic drivers for printing.
If it works you might get basic printing (no frills) (usb connected) and no DRM.

    Ps:
I have found in the past, printers work better with O.E. ink cartage.
We all know they cost more.

    Interesting idea.
Might "fix" one problem (cartridge DRM restriction) and create new ones (reduced functionality)??
But worth a try, I suppose.

Yep, to some extent with these things, one does get what one pays for...

Fresh OEM ink in a new, non-recycled cartridge is bound to work better over the long haul.
Using recycled, refilled, reused, generic/aftermarket cartridges filled with (possibly) questionable-quality ink seems bound to gum up the printer eventually.
Even brand-name cartridges from stale stock (etail or retail) can be lousy.
It's a "pay me now or pay me later" or "risk:benefit" calculation each user must make.

FWIW, HP in the U.S. offers a convenient cartridge supply program with easy ordering (one or two clicks), deeply discounted prices, FRESH cartridges and next-business-day, free delivery. Over the years, it has worked very well for me.

I do not know if such an "ink" program exists in Pakistan for @kf10.

I have used that method on Kodak printers and it worked.

Like I posted it will be (no frills) basic printing if it does work.
The Kodak printers I had went to the place they should of stayed in the first place. The recycle dumpster.
