My Lexmark X4650 finally broke. I had it about 7 years.
I'd like to replace the part that is broke. Not sure if I can find one.
If not, what's a good replacement printer? I'm looking for inkjet, color and wireless capabilities.
The picture below is what is broken.
Find a ID number on the broken part. Search for it. On Amazon you will probably find it.
If there is no ID, serch for the service manual. On it should be the ID for the broken part
The picture above is not mine, I borrowed it from the internet. I was printing a 56 page document and when it was done I got a cartridge error.
I'm searching now for a service manual and hopefully find a part number.
How do you know that part is broken? Do you see physical damage?
I don't think you will find a replacement part that is new. You might find a used printer you can then cannibalize the part from, but of course, it will be used too.
What is your budget for a new printer? I've been happy with my HP 7525 but it is no longer in product either.
If you do a lot of printing, I recommend investing in a higher end model. Budget printers just don't seem to hold up these days as the printer makers seem to rely on ink sales rather than printer sales.
Have you contacted Lexmark yet ?
In my opinion their home printers are garbage, you were lucky to get 7 years out of it, depending on usage of course.
I recommend getting an HP printer if you end up buying a new one, or Brother printers seem to be fairly decent.
I do not recommend HP due to their habit of ending support of products early, poor customer service and tech help, etc. Lexmark isn't all that great to begin with and their consumables are horribly overpriced. Brother has a good reputation, however. When my present Samsung gives up the ghost, I plan on replacing it with a Brother.
Inkjets are the pits; mostly money pits due to the cost of ink, especially if you don't use them every day or two. Laser printers, even though more expensive up front, are far more economical to use in the long run and don't get clogged heads if they are used frequently.
I've had entirely different experience with HP over the years for home and home/business.
While I was not happy about their little issue with not-quite-empty ink cartridges (which has been resolved), I have found their hardware, software, ink and support to be more than fine over many years.
Their inkjet AIOs are quite robust for the cost and produce high-quality documents.
(I just recently gave away to a friend an HP AIO from 2005 (!) that still works fine and for which ink is still available. That's better than many other manufacturers...)

In reply to Intaregid, there is physical damage. There is a little plastic piece that holds the ink cartridge tight against the contacts. It broke off of both places where the ink goes.
I contacted Lexmark and they thanked me for being a Lexmark user and said there are no parts available for Lexmark inkjets. They suggested I get a laser printer. I still think inkjet is the way to go, unless someone can change my mind.
I don't do a lot of printing. I did have one larger printing job (250 pgs.) that I just took a thumb drive to Staples and had them do it.
I was looking at HP printers, mainly the Officejet Pro 8710. One more thing, the printer has to be black (so it matches the rest of my setup).
I've heard good things about HP printers but not their desktops. 95% of the PC's at work are HP's and they are terrible.

What would it take to convince you to go with a laser?
I don't print a lot either. I have a 9 year old Brother black and white laser that cost less than $60.
Zero defects.
I'm still using the original toner--try 9 years on inkjet cartridges.
I didn't print a lot when I had an HP color inkjet--but I was spending $30 to $60 a year on new cartridges nevertheless. My only regret is that I didn't give up on inkjets sooner.
