Too many mouses (mice?)

I spent all day trying to get my computer to get past the ding-ding and windows logo after I had downloaded a few programs. Finally I started all over again and decided I was not going to download any more until things were working right.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a PC with two monitors. One of them is a touchscreen monitor with 2usb plugs on the back of it.
I can only think of two things that may cause my mouse to stop working. Either I need to unplug the plug for the touch function, or I may need to plug the mouse into one of those USB ports on the monitor, or I need to push a button somewhere.
Wait- that's three.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ken

Did you only downloaded a few programs or you also installed some?
What isn't working properly, touchscreen monitor, mouse or windows?
Is your mouse a wired or wireless?

Guess I forgot that part.
The touch screen is working but the wired mouse is not.
Sorry. Been a long day

I have a wired mouse that began to work on - off.
It was a broken wire inside the cable.
As you use the mouse, the cable bents at the mouse outlet, and with time it breaks inside.
I opened the mouse (look for screw under the label), cut the cable 4", 2" from the inside connector and then joint them.

Thanks.
I will check tomorrow. Before opening it though I will probably see if it works on my Son's Computer. Could save me some work.
I will leave this open until I find my solution and what the problem is.

Please explain what you mean by "ding-ding". Note if you have a "system" speaker used to sound "beep" codes, you should only hear one "beep" during boot to indicate a successful POST (power on self test), not two beeps. Two beeps would indicate an error. Depending on the BIOS maker, it could mean memory problems, keyboard, or just a general error.

Please provide your system specs and clarify what you mean by "ding".

Mice?
I'm looking at getting a Razer DeathAdder mouse. Price isn't bad for the kind of mouse it is. Mainly, I want a good mouse to replace the mouse I got with my system. I want it to match my Razer Lycosa keyboard, and the blue cold cathode and LED fan lighting of my case, so the DeathAdder is appealing...
