    change hard drive boot order??

    hello,

I have win7 on the HD that boots up now. I also have another HD with the old vista set up. How can I change the bios so the vista HD will boot? tried a few things in bios but nothing changed. have sata system. the vista hd is listed as slave.

really what I want is to boot into the vista setup. I can get data files but want to see a program setting for access to internet (if that's possible), and that requires opening the program on vista, not the win7.

    Hi and welcome.

You can use bcdedit to set up a dual boot. instruction here BCDEDIT - How to Use

Just leave both plugged in and set up the two OS's

If you have not already done or tried, when in your BIOS, go to Advanced BIOS Features, and the first entry should be Hard Disk Boot Priority. Just select the HD that you want to boot first. Use the up or down key to select the hardrive you want, than press the plus key <+> (or <PageUp>) or the minus key <-> (or <PageDown>) to move it up or down the list. Press <Esc> to exit.

try hitting F8 (or similar, see motherboards manual) when computer is booting up ?
it will show popup screen that lets you select wich harddrive to boot.

    kncelot's suggestion worked...

took a few tries to figure out the toggle arrangement to make changes.

was very nice to see th old vista desktop again, and while there we did updates and a few other things. think I will keep this drive with vista in case something bad happens to the win7 drive
