I just checked the SSD prices in Australia. ....I'm not getting one for quite a while :(

Suddenly not so shabby. That's my rationalization and I'm sticking to it :p

The prices are dropping fast. Two weeks after I decided to purchase the SSDs, the price dropped USD100 each. And they're still dropping.

I hope that monthly price drop keeps on going until it plateaus out near non-SSD prices :)

Even the prices on shopbot are enough to make me go ouch. Like everyone, I more than welcome a cheaper price and love a good price drop, but I personally just can't justify the current price per GB. Even I have my limits ;)

I understand what you are saying. My plan is to use SSDs for the OS and files that change a lot. I'll plug in my 1.5 TB eSATA external HDD when a replacement arrives from Seagate (another story). That I'll use for bulk storage where bandwidth and access times are not an issue. The drive goes to sleep when it's not used for a while.

The performance of my RAID 0 is... well, I feel like crying or ripping my heair out.
I have no idea why the performance is so bad.

On WinXP I got 135/101/65 (max/avg/min)

well the 36s are getting on a bit now.

No doubt, but they are able to perform much better than this.

From 100 MB/s to 66MB/s ... and its not like its wear. They work, or they dont.
They even did 100 MB/s on an old nForce2 motherboard with XP1700+ and Win2000.

Hmm... that really says something about how old they actually are :P

Oh well, I´ll wait for SSD to mature som more. Maybe The OCZ Vertex or Vertex 2 will do the trick.

Here's mine...I think it's time I upgrade my 7200.11 HD's

I was wondering does anybody have like 2X74 or 150GB Raptors in RAID 0 to use as the primary boot drive?

I'm thinking to use a setup like 2XRaptors RAID 0, and 1 Tera for programs+other

I'm not sure if this is because it is a 2.5" SATA, vs. a 3.5" desktop equivalent but...
This graph looks hideous. :o

Here's mine on W7U using Seagate SATAII 320 drives.
I've got my pagefile moved over to my second drive.
I noticed with W7 that the Burstspeed almost doubled from XP & Vista which suggests better memory management in W7.

Since I don't have HD Tune, I'll show you my HD Tach score. ;)

thanx buddy:)

on another separate issue, you won't believe this my hard drives just crashed after 3 yrs of use....funny thing is i was looking @ updating these last Sunday.
This is why i haven't been on here much..:(

I'm was looking for 1X1000GB as my D drive, 2X150GB Raps as my primary boot drive in RAID 0 setup.
Any suggestions?

May I suggest making a new thread so we can discuss this issue without diluting this one :D
