Iphone not being recognised in iTunes

    Hello Everyone,

I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and have had minimal problems doing so. I am however having issues with my IPhone in iTunes. The upgrade has trasnferred everything perfectly but when I connect my IPhone via USB my computer recogines it (but as a Digital Camera) but iTunes doesn't.

Does anyone have any information on fixing this issue?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciatted.

    Thanks,

    Raptor.

Hi Raptor and welcome to the forum!

Please make sure that you have the latest iTunes from Apple website. That should sort out your issues.

    Cheers

    Hi Raptor and welcome,

Is it 64 bit Itunes? If so, have a look at this thread, where it says Apple Itunes.

Thanks for the quick replies however I do have the lastest version of iTunes and as my system is 32 bit I am unable to run the 64 bit iTunes installer.

I am thinking it is more of an issue with the device manager and how it has recognised my IPhone as a digital camera.

    What are your thoughts???

    Thanks again.

i had a problem with this on another computer and this helped...
Try manually installing the driver by doing the following:
*Right-click "My Computer" and select Manage
    *Select Device Manager
*In the right-hand pane, expand Imaging Devices and select the iPhone (camera)
*Right-click the iPhone camera and select Properties
    *Click the Driver tab
    *Click "Update Driver..."
*When asked if you should connect to the internet, select No, not this time
*Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
*Check "Include this location in the search" and point it to:

    i had a similar problem.

running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. and itunes on my computer recognized my iphone as being plugged in. but windows 7 did not. it registered it as a mtp device under device manager. disabling me from from getting pictures off my iphone.

what helped me was i uninstalled the mtp usb portable device in my device manager, which win7 apparently believed was my iphone. then uninstalled all apple softwares installed including apple device manager, uninstalled quicktime and itunes, restarted my computer as requested by the itunes uninstaller and upon restart without any apple software on there. my windows 7 immediately recognized my iphone as being an apple iphone (finally!).

now i'm going to install itunes again to see if this stays that way.

What seems to be the issue is any photos on your iphone's camera roll that were not taken by your iPhone. Transfer the photos off your iPhone, and delete the old MPT USB Device (failed install) from your device manager, then reconnect your iPhone. I think your issue will magically be fixed, and we all know magic is what you need these days, or atleast some good ganja.

Try deleting itunes and reinstalling. Then restart the computer.

    This worked for me
    ==============

My symptoms were - Windows 7 64 and Win xp pro 32 would see my iphone as a a camera but itunes would not detect it.

Go to Start, Devices and Printers and delete iphone

Download itunes and save the installation file to a suitable location (note choose 'download' and not 'run')

Download and install 7-zip. It is free and if you don't have it, you should.

Use 7-zip to open the itunes'xx'setup you downloaded (where xx = 32 or 64 bit version).
Double click the msi called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi

This gives you the option to repair or remove apple mobile device support, choose repair.

That's it - worked fine for me on both a 32 bit xp machine and a 64 bit win 7 pro machine!
