Why Doesn't My Camcorder Show An Icon In My Computer?

I recently built a very nice system with Windows 7 Home Prem Edition 64-bit. When I connected the camcorder (Sony DCR-TRV525) via Firewire (1394), the computer showed drivers were installing and the import screen came up. I cancelled the import window because I didn't want to do this task yet. I clicked open My Computer and didn't see my camcorder listed with everything else. Is this normal for Windows 7 not to show this type of device when connected with Firewire? Everything else works fine. Device Manager shows it as "Sony DV Camcorder". Devices and Printers shows it as "AV/C Subunit".
