Disc won't eject?

I'm having some issues with my 17x ( running windows 7 ) for some reason it will not eject a disc. Whenever I try to open My computer it just tries to load it but fails. I've tried the "eject" button on the m17x with no luck. Any suggestions? The wireless cards seems to be having issues as well not allowing me to connect to the internet.

Is there a way to eject your disc in the bios?

Near the eject button on your drive there should be a small pin hole, inset a straightened out paperclip into it and push firmly, this is the emergency eject that is built into almost all optical drives.

Once you've removed the disc, try another clean, unscratched disc, preferably of another type (cd/dvd/dvdr etc)
When you say that My Computer doesn't load, did you mean the disc or my computer?
If it's the dvd drive, then to me it points towards either a power issue or a broken eject button/switch.
Has the laptop received a slight knock at all? What has happened to it between now and the last time the drive worked ok?

You could try to remove and reseat the drive, they're usually held in by a few screws or sometimes just a sliding clip on the bottom of your lappy. Make sure it's powered down before you try this. It could help if it's just a bad connection.

You can cold reboot the laptop and that will reset the drive so the button will work.

You can also try to right-click the drive icon in My Computer to eject the disc if the button is indeed broken.

Before I ever did the cold reboot, I tried what you suggested and it didn't work. That led me to think that the process space that controls that must of been blown so it must be time to do the cold reboot to get back to organized intact process boundaries. And indeed that worked as the eject worked as it should. The problem never happened again since that day.
