    About to upgrade my CPU....help?

    I have a Pentium E5300 currently. For Christmas I just got a new Q9550!!!

Anything I need to do before installing the new CPU? I'd really rather not wipe the hard drive, but will if I really have to.....

Just wondering how Windows 7 treats a significant change. Just call a number and re-authenticate?

Yeah, be sure to wipe the old thermal paste off and add new. No need to wipe the hard drive. If you get authenticating problems just give them a call and it'll fix.

You should be fine just set your bios settings back to standard if you have it overclocked at all. Windows should run fine with the change and you wont have to reactivate you are allowed to upgrade the processor
