Kingston Flash drive won't open

Hi,

I have a Kingston DataTraveler 100 (8GB) flash dive. My pc detects it, installs the driver but the USB doesn't show in 'my computer'.
So, I can't open it and the device is also not shown in 'disk management' but it is listed in 'device manager'.

I also have another USB drive that works perfectly, so my USB ports do not seem to be the problem.

Thanks.

Try a "reinstallation". Leave the drive connected, then Uninstall it in the Device Manager, disconnect the drive from the PC and then restart the PC. After Windows starts, connect the drive and it should be detected and reinstalled. If there was some type of corrupted status this should fix it.

Under properties and policies in Device Manager does it say the drive has been optimized for quick removal or not?

yes, it has been optimized for quick removal

to fireberd: thanks for the tip, but I've tried re-installations in the past without any luck

a short update:
the flash drive does show up in disk management, but not where it should be showing up...I've added a screen shot to clear it out
