Freeview + connected to a lcd LG monitor

Hi I have got a new free view + box and at the back of the box is a scart lead which can be connect to a TV. I have brought a scart lead to vga cable connected it all up to the monitor but I keep getting "check signal cable" message.

At the start I plugged the scart lead into VCR port at the back of the box which made this "check signal cable" appear.

I then moved the scart lead to the tv port on the back of the box and this "check signal cable" box was starting to blink. This made me think that I was almost there in getting the picture up. Some sort of signal must have been transfered.

Anyway my question is how do i get the picture to display on my monitor?

Any help would be much appriciated,

    Regards Paul

Your trying to connect a freeview box to a monitor via scart to vga?

What sort of monitor is it? this may not work, depends on your horizontal scan rate of the monitor?!
