Windows 7 - USB drives not displayed

When I open My Computer,my USB ports(drives)aren't listed-including the one my wireless mouse is using.Been to folder options,and also have "show unmounted drives" checked in a software called Windows 7 Manager.Note: all three ports are working with a mouse or flash drive.Running Windows 7 HP 32bit on Lenovo notebook.What am I missing here?

Have you tried installing the latest chipset drivers? Post back more details for your cpu and motherboard.

Well the Lenovo G550 is less than a month old-could I need driver updates already? Current version chipset appears to be 8.15.10.1872 (using DirectX Diag v.11)Not seeing my MB there.Everest or CPU-Z perhaps? I called out the usb's in device manager and they are up to date.I also can't recall if they ever did display under My Computer. Almost forgot >Intel Pentium DualCore T 4300 2.1Ghz--Win7HP 32bit The bio at left is my desktop.

Chipset drivers - download, install and reboot -you probably have the latest chipset drivers but to be on the safe side install these.

Go to the below driver page for Lenovo G550 and under Storage Management - select the intel matrix storage manager for Windows 7 64BIT - download, install and reboot.
