New WD Cavier Green Drives Out

    Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARS 1TB 5400 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Retail

You will get the full storage space as advertised (in this case the full 1 TB instead of the usual 931 GB)

Thoughts? Opinions? I'm probably going to buy one.

Sorry Nikolay, thats not quite right!
Windows 7 allocates 2-300 megs of space on the drive for .dll's and cab files.

    Happy new year.

Well, on a drive with virtually nothing on it would be a 1 TB, right?

Yes, thats correct, but you also will have to account for backup and image space which will reduce space.

Flatrox has the Sata 3 7200 version for a couple cents less. I have shoped here a few times. They always show up in Google base with good prices.

Web of trust gives flatrox a bad score. Also, I believe the WD10EARS models are the only ones that use the new 4 KB Advanced Format

Nikolay, I would never presume to advocate a preference for a brand, but I have relied on Seagates since the beginning of the PC revolution. They are rock solid and are worth the money.

WOT Is a Joke is user rated system and those user don't have to provide proof that they have used the site.
I Base it on resellerratings For customer feedback because they have to prove they shopped at the given store, and McAfee McAfee SiteAdvisor Software ? Website Safety Ratings and Secure Search For Security.
