WD VelociRaptor 300GB (D3000HLFS) Hi There,
I was hoping someone here might have developed a way around the issue with the HLFS versions of WD's VelociRaptor drives...specifically that they are not supported during installation, they work fine as storage drives but Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit will not install to them. When an intallation is attempted it corrupts out at about 30-33%. The drives and the rest of the hardware all pass everytest you can throw at them, on Microsoft's supported HW website it lists these drives as "We are checking with the manufacturer to confirm compatibility."
The Windows 7 copy will install and run fine on other drives and as noted previously all HW has been fully and repeatedly tested, all bios version are up to date, all firmware has been updated as well.

Install to a different drive, then transfer a cloned system image to your WD drive. It's a feasible workaround until such time as WD issue updated firmware, or Windows7 SP1 emerges... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) Velociraptor Hmm....
I have two HLFS 300 disks. The first time I installed to them it was the RC ver. and I had them in a raid 1 config. No problem.
The second time I installed my retail ver. and I broke the raid config and went to just one disk. No problem. Makes one wonder doesn't it? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Brand X OS win 7 X64 Ultimate SP1 CPU I7950 Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium Memory Corsair Dominator (6X2) CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 Sound Card Realtek HD 5.1 (MOB) Monitor(s) Displays Asus VW224T (1) Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard MS Wireless 3000 V2 Mouse MS Wireless 3000 V2 PSU CoolerMaster 1000 Watt Case CoolerMaster HAF X Cooling CPU -- CoolerMaster 520N Hard Drives SATA

It does...and you had no issues during install? Did you have to add a driver during the installation? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Win 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU Intel QuadCore Q9300 Motherboard Asus P5P43TD Pro Memory 8GB OCZ Dual Channel DDR3 Graphics Card MSi N250GTS 1GB Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 24in Samsung SynchMaster P2350 PSU Corsair TX750W Case Thermaltake Armor+ Cooling Aftermarket CPU Fan Hard Drives x2 300GB VelociRaptors (WD3000HLFS) RAID 0

It sounds like you must have something very wrong with your system then.
From what the other poster says about the WD drives working, to the fact Acronis TrueImage works beautifully with Windows7.
