I have tried everything...and it still doesn't work.

Yesterday I finished building a new computer for a friend, I thought I'd connect the T230H to this new computer to see if it works on that, nope...didn't work on the new computer either.

When I called up Acer from my country, they told me to try a different USB cable, which I've done and to also try it on a different computer...which I have now done as well. Both didn't solve the problem. So my next step is to take it back to the place I bought it from, get them to test it and if they can't get it to work, I'll get a replacement. My guess now is it's the unit itself which may be at fault.

    Hi Nights
I also have an Acer T230H monitor and get error code 10, did you find a solution to the problem, has anyone? My monitor and touch screen both work though but I think it is causing BSOD occasionally and would like to eliminate it. I also have a mouse issue and it has been suggested that the video driver might be part of the issue.

    Nope.

Still haven't got the problem sorted. I actually just gave up because I was spending too much time trying to get it to work, with no success.

Now that more people have come forward with the same problem, I don't think it's a problem with the screen. It's got something to do with the driver I think...

    I don't know.

If someone get's it sorted, please tell me how...

This monitor is going to waste!

Acer Support Trying to Repair T230H Code 10

    NiGHTS said:
    Hi guys,

I recently bought an Acer T230H touch screen monitor. I connected it all up as normal as well as the USB port on the monitor which plugs into any USB on my comp to handle the touch screen capabilities. When I started up, Windows downloaded the driver for it but it doesn't install it properly. It says "Device driver software was not successfully installed".

I go to device manager and it is listed under Human Interface Devices. The icon has the yellow exclaimation mark indicating that there is a problem. I've tried re-installing the driver. I have also uninstalled and then re-installed the USB devices. I have tried doing it all in Windows XP and the exact same problem occurs in that as well. When I look at the properties of the device. It says: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The driver manufacturer looks to be Quanta Computers Inc. I have searched and searched everywhere for a different driver, but have no luck. I have downloaded a file from Acer for this monitor, but it is an .INF file listed in their driver section for this monitor, but it doesn't do anything and I'm not sure how to use it.

    Can anyone help?

I have the same problem on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Laptop (Dell Inspiron). Went several rounds with Acer support until I reached a Level 2 Technicial.

TIP: If you call Acer support more than 3 times on the same SNID (may need to be from the same phone number), they escalate your call to a supervisor. I was escalated several times.

After the level 2 tech had me try forcing the monitor drivers onto the monitors in Device Manager, he dug deeper and found a service note about a larger number of T230H monitors coming to the repair center with a USB Code 10 error.

Sending mine into the Acer repair center. They're going to flash the touch module within the monitor to see if that fixes it.

Another possible issue that still may be a problem is trying to force the laptop to see the external monitor to be the primary monitor. Haven't tested on a Win7 desktop yet (where this is easier to do).

I'll post back when the monitor is fixed and see if that solves the Code 10 error and touch function. May be a couple weeks.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. Let me know if Acer get it fixed for you. I still haven't got mine working and pretty much just gave up on it. But if Acer can repair it due to it being a common problem with hardware, then I'll send mine away. Otherwise it's just a waste of money really.

    Same problem.....

I have the T230H and have connected it to three different Windows 7 machines, all running different versions of Windows 7 (Home 32, Home Premium 32, Pro 64) and they all give the same Code 10 driver error on all 3 machines. Have used different USB cables as well. Heck, I even ran the HP driver that gets the T230H running on XP machines (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=uk&prodNameId=4031753&prodTypeId=382087&prodSeriesId=4031739&swLang=13& taskId=135&swEnvOID=228)
and that even gave the Code 10 error.

So, mooseink, we are all waiting to see if sending the unit in to Acer will fix the problem......
