Screen flash/ disconnect on external display & laptop

Hello, I have a HP pavillion Dv9308nr laptop, hooked up through s video to my panasonic plasma as an external display. This issue did not happen with same exact set up before I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista ultimate. So it has something to do with windows 7. Heres what happens. Every time I open a new folder, application, file, or web page the external display flashes. I can tell it is disconnecting for a split second because my TV shows the input notice on the screen as if I just switched to that input. This also happens randomly every couple minutes or so. I looked this up on google and found that the Transient Multimon Manager can cause this and it said if Im using the external display only and not switching back and forth that I should disable TMM, which I have done. I think it might have something to do with the graphics drivers compatibility with windows 7. When I try to install the recommened driver through windows or Nvidia it gets all the way to the install and then says not for this OS. Other than this issue Im loving 7, and since I cant go back to vista without a clean install Im stuck trying to figure out whats causing this, and if theres anything I can do about it. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions and God Bless.

UPDATE: Ok, this makes no sense at all to me, but it worked. I decided since I was getting graphics driver compatibilty error message when I did windows update to try to roll it back. So I did this, and the screen got worse, but it showed that the driver was the exact same one, same date, same edition. So I did a restore to previous point. Fixed the new screen issue, then went back to the rollback again to see if it would rollback this time. Rebooted, screen looked ok. Checked the driver date and issue, still the same one. But the flashing is GONE. I have no idea what I did. Ive rolled the graphics driver back in the past and it showed an older date and older edition number. But this time it stayed the same but fixed the problem. Anyway I created a new restore point which Ill use if the issue comes back.
